From bright newcomers to fashion mainstays, international fashion designers took to display their latest collections at the Fall/Winter show from 22 February to 28 February.
Among the models donning the incredible pieces on the fashion runways was a Kuala Lumpur native, Vanizha Vasanthanathan.
She was seen strutting in designs by new Italian labels Marco Rambaldi and ACT N?1.
The 29-year-old herself has also taken to Instagram to celebrate her appearance.
“Living my dream and trust me it was not an easy journey!” she wrote in one of her posts.
According to The Star, she made her modelling debut at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week in 2014, then later broke into the international modelling scene at the Lakme Fashion Week in India in 2016.
The professional model and classically-trained Odissi dancer has been featured in many other local and international fashion events and publications since.
She has also been on the runways of Beijing Fashion Week and Jakarta Fashion Week.
In a recent interview with Vogue on 25 February about racism in the global creative industry, Vanizha said she has never seen someone like herself — ordinary, dark-skinned, and belonging to an ethnic minority — in any major advertisements growing up.
To have pulled off the many milestones in her career and to see her face appear on large billboards across the world, she said is not only a victory for her, but for every other person like her.
