KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 — LBS Bina Group Bhd partnered with Genovasi University College to set up the Hardship Scholarship Fund, in which the former contributed RM80,000 to provide scholarships for the hardcore poor.

The cheque was presented by LBS Foundation Board of Trustees member Tan Sri Lim Hock San to Genovasi University College president Professor James Nga, according to a statement from the institution of higher learning.

“I am honoured to be appointed as one of the fellowships of Genovasi University College and to be part of this very meaningful mission in reaching out to the underprivileged students.

“Together, we envision having more organisations come forward to be a part of this meaningful feat,” said Lim, who is also the executive chairman of LBS Bina Group Bhd.

He also expressed his belief that education is a pivotal component that will bring the greatest positive impact on society.

Dr Nga said that he hopes the initiative encourages local conglomerates to partner with local institutions of higher learning to reach out to the poor.

The fund will serve to help underprivileged students to continue their tertiary education.

“Education paves the way for a better nation by incorporating positive values and ideologies that will bring about lifelong impact that is set to ripple across every part of the community.

“In addition, education helps develop one’s skill set, namely decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking, and optimise the quality of life and economic wellbeing,” said the statement from Genovasi.
