According to CNA, the man was issued a fine of SGD2,000 (RM6,144.49) on Wednesday, 10 November.
The man, 38-year-old Lee Sin Hee, pleaded guilty to two counts of performing an obscene act.
The prosecutor explained to the court that the man had stopped when the woman got off the train at Serangoon Station.
After that, he moved to the centre of the cabin and stood in front of another woman. He began masturbating again, using his bag to hide his hand movements from view but the woman moved to another cabin.
A fellow commuter then spotted Lee’s actions. He was asked to stop and get off at the next station. Lee initially refused but complied in the end.
A staff member at Lorong Chuan Station then alerted the police and said that Lee was causing public nuisance.
CNA reported that he saw a woman sitting in a cabin, felt aroused while looking at her, and began masturbating in his pants. Similar to the previous incident, he used his bag to shield his movements.
Another woman sitting across from the victim then realised what was happening. The witness was with an eight-year-old niece so she shifted her body in order to block the child from seeing what Lee was doing.
After that, Lee got off of the train at Khatib Station. The women later reported the incident to train staff.
He said, “I have no money as I have been out of a job for the past two months. I would like to serve a default sentence.”
However, he ended up paying the SGD2,000 fine and will not have to serve the eight days’ jail in default.
For each charge of committing an obscene act, the man was liable to a jail sentence of up to three months and a fine.
