Now that travel is allowed again, don’t you think it’s a great time to propose a team retreat to your boss and colleagues? 😉

After working from home for most of the pandemic, who wouldn’t want a fun-filled getaway among the beautiful limestone hills in Ipoh?

Sunway’s Lost World Of Tambun invited us to check out their Adventure Park as the perfect place for groups or companies to build team spirit while soaking in nature.

Here are some of the activities we loved on the 3D2N stay that was the ultimate team-bonding experience:

1. Glamping in huge tents under the stars

What we loved most about glamping was the comfort of sleeping in luxurious hotel beds while still being able to immerse ourselves in nature. The tents are pitched by the lake at Adventure Park among the beautiful limestone hills, which made staying at the camping grounds really pleasing and serene. Not to mention, we also got to enjoy a freshly-grilled barbecue dinner outdoors!

2. Exploring a 400 million-year-old limestone cave

One of the first activities we did was hike up 630 steps to a 400 million-year-old cave called Gua Datok situated in the park. Climbing the stairs took some effort and determination, but everyone had so much fun exploring the cave and taking Insta-worthy shots of the age-old limestone formations. We were also rewarded with an awesome view and breakfast that awaited us at the top.

3. Trekking through a man-made tunnel where communists once hid

We got to relive some history when the Lost World of Tambun crew took us to their Sixth Mile Tunnel adventure. It was surprisingly a great trust-building activity as everyone was slightly afraid of being in the enclosed cave – it was hauntingly quiet, pitch black (except for our headlights), and the water came up to our waists at one point. We learnt that the tunnel was excavated and abandoned by tin miners, and was then used by communists to travel and escape detection. We saw remnants of tools and storage left in the cave as we carefully made our way through.

4. Team-building exercises that brought out the kiasu in us

My personal favourite activity was the team-bonding exercises and games that were prepared by the super enthusiastic crew to challenge us. We were split into two teams, and it was hilarious and fun watching everyone work together but also try to win. From desperately shouting instructions at blindfolded teammates stuck in a maze to building a makeshift raft that was able to save two people stuck in the middle of the lake, we learnt how to communicate effectively, and also who was really kiasu (Hokkien: scared to lose), among our team that day.

5. Zip lining and rock climbing at Adventure Park

The Adventure Park had lots to offer including zip lining, via ferrata rock climbing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, and even a high ropes course. Some of our colleagues really enjoyed rock climbing the sheer cliff of one of the limestone hills, but the rest of us much preferred the more forgiving fun of zip lining across the park’s lake.

6. All-included access to the rest of the theme park

While we were there, of course, we also took the opportunity to head to the amusement park and sit on all the water slides! We also enjoyed the thrilling fire show and walking the funny-looking Luminous Forest at night. However, the best part has to be soaking at the park’s famous natural hot springs and enjoying some local fare at the Dulang Tea House as relaxing treats after the long days of activities.

Simply put, the Lost World of Tambun’s team-building package made a great getaway from the office (and home).

If you think your company would enjoy this, start planning your action-packed, fun-filled retreat for your team too!
