PETALING JAYA: A burst pipe this evening has resulted in an unscheduled water supply disruption to parts of Petaling district.

In a statement tonight, Air Selangor said the pipe, which is one metre in diameter, was damaged this evening after what it called a “landslide in Damansara Utama”. It added that this had resulted in an unscheduled water supply disruption to 43 areas in Petaling.

Some of the areas affected include Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Mutiara Damansara, Ara Damansara, Damansara Perdana and Kota Damansara.

This was the second incident of the day involving a burst pipe, with the first one occurring this morning.

Air Selangor said it had to shut down water supply to 58 areas in Klang and Shah Alam, and 72 areas in the Petaling district from 1pm due to a burst main pipe.

The incident was detected at Persiaran Tengku Ampuan in Section 15, Shah Alam.

Three other incidents of burst pipes affecting water supply in parts of Selangor had occurred in the past four months.

On Dec 20, a burst pipe in Taman Andalas, Klang resulted in an unscheduled water supply disruption to parts of Klang and Shah Alam.

On Oct 16, 59 areas in Klang, Shah Alam and Kuala Langat suffered unscheduled cuts to their water supply after a pipe burst at Worldwide Seksyen U11, Shah Alam.

On Sept 15, nine areas in Kuala Langat and Sepang, Selangor, faced an unscheduled water supply disruption because of a burst pipe that occurred near Bandar Sri Ehsan and the KLIA mosque.

Major areas in the Klang Valley had also suffered water cuts throughout this year due to pollution in raw river water, causing treatment plants to be closed temporarily.
