Just a few days after taking the helm of Twitter, Elon Musk has already made several head-scratching decisions

From charging RM38 per month for a verified checkmark to firing ex-employees and allegedly asking them to come back, he has definitely turned a lot of heads.

And his most recent tweets have garnered a lot of attention as well.

Musk said in a series of tweets that Twitter will be taking strict action against accounts specifically engaging in impersonation

“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended,” Musk wrote.

Additionally, Musk went on to say that impersonations done by accounts with a verified checkmark will temporarily lose their verification status.

It also appears Musk has already taken action towards several accounts that impersonated him on Twitter

One of which is comedian Sarah Silverman, who posted a screenshot that her account was temporarily locked after she tweeted using Musk’s name and profile picture on her account.

Another comedian, Kathy Griffin, also had her account suspended for doing something similar. She changed her name and profile picture to suit Elon Musk’s account and tweeted using that account.

In fact, Elon made his announcement shortly after Griffin’s tweet. Currently, it is unclear whether the ban on her account is temporary or permanent.
