TikTok user @lelakiyangsendu uploaded the video earlier this week, which has garnered over 76,000 views and over 6,500 likes as of writing.

The recording took place on a highway and shows two Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) lorries, each carrying an adult elephant.

TikTok users found the mammals cute and were amused to see them being transported this way.

One person commented, “No need to be tired from walking, they have drivers to drive them around.”

Another one said, “They’re enjoying the fresh air, the wind is strong too.”

“Are they going to an open house?” another user joked.

One user wrote, “I heard that if an elephant does that (head swaying) it doesn’t mean they are enjoying it, but it’s [because of] stress.”

According to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), an elephant that displays this type of behaviour means it is under psychological distress.

It is not certain where these elephants are being transported, but this method is commonly used by Perhilitan to evacuate the animals to a safer location or to move them from one conservation to another.
