PETALING JAYA: PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan has reminded Umno today of the day the two parties formed Muafakat Nasional, and said the party put priority on the unity of the parties.
“Not that we loved either one of you less, but that we love our unity more,” he said in a tweet in English, with an image of the flags of PAS, PPBM and Umno, the three parties who form Muafakat Nasional.
In a tweet aimed at an Umno leader, Annuar Musa, Takiyuddin urged Annuar to remember Sept 14, 2019 (the date on which Umno and PAS signed their alliance. PPBM joined the alliance in August this year.)
Annuar is secretary-general of Barisan Nasional and Muafakat Nasional. He had responded to a PAS decision to not be a part of the new Perak government.
Annuar had said that if the decision was a result of a dispute with the menteri besar, there were other ways to manage it. “Wisdom is needed,” he wrote.
Annuar had also expressed regret that the Perak state assembly vote was taken without earlier discussion with Umno’s political bureau or the Supreme Council.
He hoped the vote would not split the Malays.
Faizal lost the confidence of the state assembly after 48 members voted against a motion of confidence in him today.
There were 10 votes in support of Faizal and one spoilt vote.
The motion had been submitted by Pengkalan Baru assemblyman Abdul Manaf Hashim, who is from Umno.
