Climbers and tourists of Mount Kinabalu will see a definite increase in the price of its parks next year

In a recent announcement on Mount Kinabalu’s official website, the State Tourism, Culture, and Environment Ministry said that it will be increasing the conservation fee on visitors of all Sabah Parks effective 1 January 2023.
The Sabah Parks is the statutory body that oversees Kinabalu Park, Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, Crocker Range Park, Tawau Hills Park, Turtle Islands Park, Pulau Tiga Park, Tun Sakaran Marine Park, Sipadan Island Park, and Tun Mustapha Park.
By making this choice, Sabah Parks will be able to meet its aim of achieving sustainable funding by 2025 while also addressing the rising costs of the park’s operations and management
Climbing permits will increase from RM200 to RM400 for an international adult and RM80 to RM200 for an international child. Meanwhile, it will increase from RM50 to RM100 for a Malaysian adult and RM30 to RM50 for a Malaysian child.
For a mountain guide per group, the rate will increase from RM230 to RM350. One guide will be serving a group of five people maximum.
For those who are only planning to visit the park without climbing to the peak, there will be a price increase for the entrance fee from RM3 to RM10 for a Malaysian adult, as well as an increase from RM1 to RM5 for a Malaysian child.
Meanwhile, the entrance fee for international tourists will increase from RM15 to RM50 for an international adult and RM10 to RM25 for an international child.
