An excavator driver was crushed to death by his vehicle in a farm in Kampung Brisu, Alor Gajah on Monday, 21 June
The 29-year-old man was killed while operating the heavy machinery on what was reportedly his first day on the job, reported Bernama.
Alor Gajah police chief Supt Arshad Abu said the victim was believed to be levelling farm land on Jalan Solok Air Besar at around 3.15pm on Monday.
The man — who has been identified as Muhamad Sabirin Umar — succumbed to serious injuries to the head and died at the scene.
“The driver had just started work as an excavator driver today (21 June) after becoming unemployed this year,” Arshad said.
Sabirin leaves behind a one-year-old son. He was from Jalan Parit Cina Bukit Pulau, Melaka, reported The Star.

“The victim was found dead in the driver’s seat in the overturned vehicle with his head trapped in the machine’s roof,” Arshad said
The police chief revealed that firefighters from Alor Gajah extricated the body of the victim following the incident.
It was reported that Melaka Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 3.52pm that day.
A fire engine and 10 firefighters arrived at the scene of the incident six minutes after the distress call was made, said the department’s operations assistant director PgKB II Muhammad Izwan Arief Mat Nor.
“Upon arriving at the scene, the victim was pronounced dead by a medical team and work to remove the victim took about 20 minutes,” Izwan said.

Initial investigation found no criminal factors involved in the incident and the case has been classified as sudden death
The body was taken to the Alor Gajah Hospital Forensic Unit for further examination.
A COVID-19 test was also been conducted before the post-mortem yesterday, 22 June.
