Google Malaysia recently announced that Google Wallet is now available for all Malaysians through selected banks

Google Wallet will provide users a simple alternative payment method. Malaysians can now download Google Wallet through the Google Play Store and use the e-wallet for in-store and online payments.
In a statement, Google Malaysia’s Managing Director, Marc Woo said, “According to the e-Conomy SEA 2022 report, digital payments are gaining popularity and are expected to hit almost USD200 billion (RM910 billion) in gross transaction value in Malaysia by 2025,” as reported by Digital News Asia.
For now, Google Wallet is only available to cardholders of three banks

Currently, the banks that will be able to integrate their payment cards to the e-wallet include:
CIMB Bank (Mastercard credit cards)
Hong Leong Bank (Visa credit card and Mastercard debit card)
Public Bank (Visa credit card and Mastercard debit card)
In the coming months, HSBC and HSBC Amanah cardholders will also be able to add their card to the e-wallet, as reported by TechNave.
“With Google Wallet as a new feature, close to 65% of our customers who are on the Android platform will enjoy an easy, safe, and secure usage and payment experience,” said Hong Leong Bank’s Personal Financial Services Managing Director Andrew Jong in a report from Digital News Asia.
Users will not only be able to use the e-wallet for online or in-store transactions, but also to store their flight tickets or boarding passes
As of now, Google Wallet is able to store users’ flight tickets or boarding passes from AirAsia, with Malaysia Airlines boarding passes to be added in the near future. The e-wallet will also be able to inform users of their departure time and gate changes, according to Lowyat.NET.
Currently, Google Wallet is only compatible with Android OS and Wear OS with NFC support.
