Boy, 4, dies after step grandfather throws him out of third-floor apartment

The step grandfather, who was injured, has been admitted to hospital.

PETALING JAYA: A four-year-old boy was found dead after he was believed to have been thrown out of his third floor apartment in Danau Kota by his step grandfather this morning.

The man, a foreign national, has been arrested, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He lived in the apartment with his Malaysian wife, their child, four step-children and the boy.

Wangsa Maju police chief Rajab Ahad Ismail said that initial investigations revealed the incident started when the suspect attempted to rape one of his stepchildren but was stopped by the suspect’s wife and other children.

The foreigner then started beating his wife and the children, who then fled the house to get help from their neighbours and security guards.

“Seeing the boy screaming and asking for help from the neighbours, he is said to have lifted him and thrown him out of the master bedroom window,” said Rajab in a statement.

“He also jumped out through the same window and injured himself in the process. He was arrested by the security guards and the public,” he added.

The victim’s body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem while the suspect and the victims were taken to HKL for treatment.

Members of the public with information on the case can contact investigating officer Gopal Subramaniam (012– 512 0242), Wangsa Maju CID chief M Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly (017-244 6363), the Kuala Lumpur police hotline (03-2115 9999) or any police station.
