SIMPANG RENGGAM, Nov 13 — Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad predicts that not a single political party or coalition will manage a comfortable position come polling day on November 19.

“Each party has its own strategy with their specific programmes that go into the research.

“However, I believe that come November 19, not a single party will be in a “comfort zone” to win,” Hasni told reporters after visiting a futsal competition at the Kampung Ibrahim Majid community hall.

The Johor Umno chief and former mentri besar was commenting on a recent Merdeka Centre study which reported that Malay voter support for GE15 was in favour of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition at 35 per cent.

Meanwhile, Hasni said as Johor BN’s election director, he will monitor the progress of all 26 parliamentary constituencies contested by the state coalition on a daily basis.

The Simpang Renggam parliamentary hopeful said there was a need to ensure that there will be no weaknesses in terms of the coalition’s programme organisation, such as human error and carelessness, at BN’s machinery level.

On last night’s provocative attack on BN’s component MIC in Batu Pahat, Hasni advised all of the coalition’s machinery to practice self-restraint and avoid responding to provocations from the opposing parties.

He said all parties need to be mature and take the constituent’s safety into consideration.

“For any provocative acts, I believe BN leaders can control their respective machinery.

“We need to avoid any form of backlash. I hope we are all mature in facing the Opposition’s campaign methods,” said Hasni, following the burning of MIC’s GE15 tent next to the party’s operation’s room in Taman Mutiara, Batu Pahat last night.

Hasni said that he had requested the authorities, such as the police, to take additional security measures to prevent such incidents from occurring.

Earlier, it was reported that the police arrested a 28-year-old male suspect to assist in investigations into the burning of a tent outside the MIC’s operations room.

Johor police contingent GE15 media spokesman Superintendent Ibrahim Mat Som said the suspect was arrested within the same vicinity and was suspected of being drunk.
