Perikatan Nasional (PN) will offer a public holiday if the coalition wins the 15th General Election (GE15), its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said yesterday, 6 November
According to The Malaysian Insight, Muhyiddin said Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Johor would get a day off on the next day after the election, 20 November, while the remaining states would get a day off on the coming Monday, 21 November.
He stated that the public holiday was proposed to make it easier for out-of-town voters to fulfill their civic duty on 19 November without having to take leave on Sunday or Monday.
“If PN wins the general election on 19 November, we will declare a public holiday on Sunday for the states of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Johor, and Monday for the remaining states,” said the former prime minister last night at a ceremony in Shah Alam.
“This would allow outside people to vote without having to take a holiday on Sunday or Monday.”
