One of the drivers, 28-year-old Redzuan Jamil, who was in the Proton Wira, managed to escape through his car’s rear passenger window.
However, he told reporters, that he and other members of the public could not save his wife in time.
Recalling the accident, Redzuan, who suffered burns on his face, said it started because of traffic congestion caused by another road accident near the scene.
“Suddenly, there was a huge impact from behind, before I realised that a five-tonne lorry had crashed into my car and two others,” he said when met at his home in Kota Tinggi, Johor, on Sunday.
“I tried to save my wife by breaking the front windshield and the front passenger door, but I couldn’t because she was pinned between the dashboard and her seat.”
Redzuan said his car’s fuel tank then suddenly exploded, and he was quickly hauled away by members of the public from the fire.

Redzuan, who is a takaful insurance agent, said he and his wife have never been apart since they were married three years ago.
The couple were on their way to watch a JDT-Sabah FC football match at Stadium Sultan Ibrahim in Iskandar Puteri after he had just met a client in Kluang.
