Those with valid travel documents will be able to freely enter or leave the country as Malaysia moves into its endemic phase next month.

Fully vaccinated travellers will just be required to take a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test two days before departure from Malaysia, and an RTK test 24 hours after arrival in Malaysia.

1. Thailand

Malaysia and Thailand’s Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) is scheduled to launch on 15 March.

The new travel scheme will see up to six flights daily between Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, as well as four flights between Phuket and Kuala Lumpur. More potential routes will be announced accordingly, as both countries are currently finalising the details.

Test requirements: APCR test two days prior to departure from Malaysia and a pre-booked PCR test upon arrival in Thailand by the approved accommodation.

2. Cambodia

No quarantine is required if you want to travel anywhere in Cambodia. Malaysia and Cambodia will ease travel restrictions effective 15 March, with one VTL route between Kuala Lumpur and Phnom Penh. There will be two flights daily, and potential additions depending on demand.

Test requirements: A PCR test is required two days prior to departure and an RTK test upon arrival in Cambodia.

3. Singapore

Malaysia and Singapore already have a VTL, and its daily quota has been increased since 14 March.

Test requirements: APCR test must be taken two days prior to departure and an unsupervised self-administered Rapid Antigen Test within 24 hours of arrival in Singapore.

4. Bali, Indonesia

As of 7 March, Indonesia has allowed quarantine-free entry to Bali, which was initially meant to only become effective on 14 March. Travellers will also be allowed to obtain visas upon arrival and must show proof of a minimum four-night stay. If all goes well with the new policy, travelling restrictions to other parts of Indonesia may be eased.

Test requirements: A PCR test must be taken prior to departure, upon arrival while waiting for the test results in the hotel, as well as on the third day of arrival.

5. Australia

As of 21 February, fully vaccinated Malaysians are allowed to enter Australia without a travel exemption. However, quarantine requirements are determined by Australia’s State and Territory governments. In other words, different states have different quarantine policies, so do research before planning your holiday.

Test requirements: A PCR test must be taken within three days before your flight’s departure, or a medical certificate must be shown as proof of a negative RTK test taken under medical supervision within 24 hours before your flight’s departure.
