TikTok user Mia Kurniawan from Indonesia uploaded a video of her cooking the fish along with a caption that read, “Frying arowana.”
The clip went viral and garnered over 6.9 million views and 189,300 likes.
“I imagined that if it was fried, it would be delicious. Okay, that’s it. I’ll just fry the fish,” she wrote.
She then showed herself descaling the fish before seasoning it and putting it in hot oil.
Once the fish was done, she wrote, “Done cooking, ready to be eaten.”
According to NextShark, an arowana can cost anything between USD300 (RM1,251.09) and USD70,000 (RM291,921), or even more, depending on its breed.
A user commented, “The expensive fish got fried. If I’m not mistaken, this fish can get you a Lamborghini.”
Another person joked, “What does it taste like? Tastes rich.”
“Ma’am, I apologise but that’s a very expensive fish,” another netizen commented.
