In a video posted on Tuesday, 8 March, TikTok user @judedina_ shared footage of the man with walking difficulties approaching a puddle of stagnant floodwaters.

Holding two of his crutches in one hand, the man extends his other hand into the floodwaters to remove suspected trash that is blocking the passage to the drain.

He is seen removing several pieces of trash, including a large drenched cardboard box from the floodwaters.

Another man then approaches him with a container to place the removed trash.

The floodwaters start flowing rapidly into the drain hole after the man’s effort.

According to @judedina_, the incident happened near a Caltex petrol station on Jalan Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.

The city suffered from flash floods on Monday, 7 March. Thousands of motorists were reportedly stranded on roads with their vehicles submerged in floodwaters.

“This is the best, bro. We should reduce the Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) director’s salary by half and give it to him (the man). Taking blind salary and doing nothing at the office,” a TikTok user said.

“Make this video viral. Let those who are responsible feel ashamed. Wasted our votes on them just to let them sit under the air-conditioner and do nothing. Million of salutes to (the man),” commented another netizen.

Thousands of comments thanked the man for unclogging the drain hole.
