The incident is believed to have taken place on Wednesday, 13 October, on Jalan Kuching.
In a 36-second clip, a man in a red T-shirt can be seen reciting the call to prayer while using a piece of cardboard as a prayer mat.
Other videos of the scene have also made their rounds on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
The officer did not interrupt the man while he was praying.
Instead, the policeman continued to guide cars so they would drive around him and waited for the man to finish his prayers.
It is unclear as to why the man was praying in the middle of the road.
“Salute the traffic police for controlling the flow of traffic until the person finished praying,” a user wrote.
Another person said, “In this whole situation, I respect the traffic police the most. He was all flustered trying to control traffic. He didn’t even pull the person while he was praying.”
“Alhamdulillah to the policeman who was so considerate,” wrote another netizen.
