The university’s vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor said they will not compromise with anyone who damages the name of the university, intentionally or otherwise.

“Following the viral sharing of a video on social media involving the actions of a UiTM lecturer who made sensitive comments, the university has investigated the issue and taken swift and appropriate action against the lecturer,” she said in a statement today, 30 March.

However, it was not elaborated on what action was taken.

“Action will be taken but I cannot explain it here. She is a contract lecturer and there are procedures [to follow] before action is taken,” Hajah Roziah explained when met by reporters at the UiTM main campus in Shah Alam today, as quoted by Harian Metro.

“I understand that the incident happened last semester but it only went viral last night. There must be a plan behind why it was only uploaded yesterday,” she said.

She added that the woman involved in the incident is actually a good lecturer, and may have made a small mistake in regard to her behaviour while scolding the student.

“However, action will be taken. And as for the student, we have found him and given him the equipment he needs.”

In the official statement, she added that UiTM was founded to help underprivileged students continue their studies at the university level.

“It is expected and for certain that UiTM will help the B40 community,” she said, adding that the university has all kinds of funds prepared to support students in their studies.
