A one-year-old boy, who was hit by a tree at Pantai Puteri on Saturday, 12 November, died the following day while being treated at the Melaka Hospital
According to Sinar Daily, Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the victim was identified as Mohd Zafran Ilman Mohd Sazwan.
During the tragedy, he was being carried by his mother, Nurulhuda Md Ali, aged 34, who was also injured in the incident.
“Police received information about the incident around 6.43pm. While the mother was carrying her baby and walking towards the beach, the tree suddenly fell and hit both of them,” he said in a statement yesterday, 13 November.
It is understood that the victim’s family came from Kajang, Selangor for a holiday and were staying at one of the resorts there.

According to an eyewitness, the mother’s head was buried under the sand, whereas the baby was buried under leaves and tree branches
“The victim was dug out of the sand with the help of people. The woman suffered many injuries on her body, while the baby was unconscious and believed to have suffered head injuries,” Patit stated.
“The Civil Defence Force (APM) provided the victims with initial treatment before referring them to the Melaka Hospital for more treatment.”
The victims were brought to Melaka Hospital for emergency treatment.
