Among the music streaming apps and services available in Malaysia, TIDAL is probably one of the pricier ones. But as part of its Black Friday promotion, it is dropping its monthly subscription fee down to as low as RM1.
As per its own promo page, TIDAL is offering its premium subscription for RM1 per month for four months. If you’re a person who believes in HiFi audio via streaming, then there’s the HiFi tier subscription. This is going for RM2 a month, also for four months.
This is a pretty substantial discount as the standard premium subscription normally costs RM14.90 a month. The HiFi tier, on the other hand, costs RM29.80 a month under normal circumstances. Either plan you go for, that’s a discount of over 90% for four months.
The catch here is that this is only available for new users, so existing subscribers are out of luck. And once the four months are up, the subscription rate will also return to their normal prices. And your subscription will automatically continue as well, so you’ll have to manually cancel it. Otherwise, it can lead to a surprise when you check your monthly bill four months later if you forget about it.
At any rate, this is still an extremely good deal if you’re okay with music streaming services like Spotify. And while TIDAL may have a larger music library than even Spotify, if your music tastes are of a specific type, like say Japanese, you may have issues with finding songs you’re looking for.
