Report: SC executive chairman resigns, just six months into new three-year term

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — Securities Commission (SC) executive chairman Datuk Syed Zaid Albar has quit his position, well before the end of his new three-year term as the head of Malaysia’s capital markets regulator, financial publication The Edge reported today.

The Edge‘s portal theedgemarkets.com cited sources which confirmed Syed Zaid as having submitted his resignation.

Previously the managing partner of a law firm, Syed Zaid was appointed on November 1, 2018 as the SC executive chairman.

Syed Zaid’s tenure was extended by three years from November 1, 2021, which means that he had served six months of this renewed term so far.
