Jelebu deputy district police chief Supt Maslan Udin said police have launched an immediate operation to capture the escaped prisoners.
As of 7pm last night, one of the escapees, Sohaimi Khalid, 50, was caught at an oil palm plantation in Kongkoi, about 2km from the prison.
According to New Straits Times, police are on the hunt for:
– Mazlan Samah, 39
– Mohamad Aminuddin Khan Mohd Yusof, 28
– Shazuan Md Sharif, 32
– Mohd Zairizan Zainal, 42
– Muhammad Syafiq Rohmat, 32
– Zainuddin, a foreigner, age unknown
The case has been classified under Section 223 and Section 224 of the Penal Code for fleeing detention as well as resisting lawful arrest, said the deputy district police chief.
Investigations are also being conducted into any negligence in handling a person under custody, Free Malaysia Today reported.
