KUALA LUMPUR: The government has no plans yet to debate the annual Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) report in the Dewan Rakyat.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Takiyuddin Hassan said the priority is to complete government matters, and the Dewan Rakyat may not have the time to debate the Suhakam report.
“It is not mandatory to debate (the report) but if there are MPs keen to debate on specific issues, it can be done at an appropriate time,” he said.
He was replying to Fahmi Fadzil (PKR-Lembah Pantai), who asked if the government will allow the report to be debated, as was done last year, after 19 years of the report being compiled.
