The store made the announcement on their Facebook page on Monday, 15 November, which has been shared over 938 times at the time of writing.
ECO Shop explains that they have adhered to keeping their principle of offering high-quality items for low prices, but that the change is “due to the increasing cost of goods”.
The Facebook post ends with them saying, “We regret this announcement and we hope you will continue to support us.”
Unhappy by the announcement, several Malaysians have suggested boycotting the store.
However, others also responded that prices have increased in general at most stores and that they are just grateful to be able to have an affordable place where they can get all of their basic necessities.
