PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today held a video conference meeting with his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong to discuss details of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) project.
In a statement today, the Prime Minister’s Office said the meeting was held in view of the Dec 31 deadline for the second and final extension of the suspension of the HSR Project.
“The prime ministers took stock of the progress of discussions and gained a good understanding of Malaysia’s and Singapore’s respective positions.
“Both sides will announce further details on the HSR Project through a joint statement in due course,” said the statement.
FMT recently reported that the HSR project was expected to resume without Singapore’s participation, with the new plan for the line to end in Johor Bahru instead of across the causeway.
Reliable sources had told FMT that Putrajaya had informed Singapore of the change in plans, with the line ending in Johor Bahru instead of connecting Kuala Lumpur to Singapore.
