
KOTA KINABALU: An Indonesian man, found guilty of a drug offence and sentenced to six months in jail, collapsed and died after the judge handed down the sentence at the Kota Kinabalu Court Complex here today.
The 42-year-old man, only identified as Hadirun, had just finished hearing the ruling when he suddenly fell at 11am and died, believed to be from a heart attack
Deputy city police chief George Abd Rakman said the court immediately called the health authorities, adding that the man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here.
“The man died at 12.06pm and his death is believed to be due to a heart attack,” he said.
The man was previously detained in Penampang and was scheduled to be deported to his country of origin after completion of the jail sentence.
