KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia hopes that Brunei will consider the proposal to establish a Reciprocal Green Lane to revive economic activities between the two countries, which have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin conveyed the message to Brunei High Commissioner Alaihuddin Mohd Taha, who paid a courtesy call on him at Parliament yesterday.
In a Facebook post, Muhyiddin said Alaihuddin came to bid farewell as his tenure in Malaysia will end later this month.
He said they also discussed efforts to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, including challenges and measures to overcome the impact of the pandemic.
“As neighbouring countries, we are in agreement that Malaysia and Brunei should not make the pandemic an obstacle to enhance cooperation,” he said.
Muhyiddin said he was also grateful that Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah had granted his request to pay an official visit to the country.
“I conveyed my intention to make the visit in the first quarter of next year, to coincide with the 23rd Annual Leaders’ Consultation,” he said.
