Malaysia’s daily new COVID-19 cases topped the 7,000 mark for the first time today with 7,289 infections
The Ministry of Health (MOH) posted in a Twitter update that Selangor reported 2,642 new cases today, the highest among states and federal territories across the country.
This was followed by Johor with 664 new infections, and Kuala Lumpur with 604.
This also marks the seventh consecutive day of the country detecting over 6,000 new daily cases.
Malaysia’s total COVID-19 cases now stands at 525,889.

Based on the recent exponential trend, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has also warned the country of a possible ‘vertical surge’
“The rise in cases started from 1 April and could trigger a vertical surge. We need to prepare for the worst. Please help us by staying at home. Only together, we can break the chain of infection,” he wrote on Twitter today, 25 May.
Dr Noor Hisham advised the public to stay at home and comply strictly with COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) in case of an emergency or at work.
