Malaysia breaches 100,000 mark with 1,581 new cases

PETALING JAYA: The country’s number of Covid-19 infections has surpassed the 100,000 mark after the health ministry reported 1,581 cases today.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 100,318.

This makes Malaysia one of the 75 countries to have recorded more than 100,000 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Noor Hisham said there were 1,085 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 81,099.

There are 18,773 active cases with 102 patients being treated in intensive care and 45 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, two deaths were recorded, bringing the death toll to 446.
