The Magic Rain reported that she is set to voice a few characters in Funimation’s upcoming English dub of Kageki Shojo!!.

Funimation is a major entertainment company that specialises in dubbing and distributing Japanese anime.

In a tweet published yesterday, 17 October, Chan said she will be playing Akiya’s mother in the series. Kakuchopurei.com reported that she will also voice various students in the hit show.

“I’m the first Malaysian voice actor in an American dub,” she said, before adding in Bahasa Melayu, “I am proud to prove that Malaysians can achieve anything. Malaysia boleh!”

The manga was re-released as an omnibus in 2019. In July, the manga was adapted into an 13-episode anime.

Kageki Shojo!! has a 7.85 rating from 12,000 users on My Anime List.

The story follows Sarasa Watanabe, a student at the all-female Kouka School Of Musical and Theatrical Arts. The students of the school play both male and female roles.

She aspires to become a top ‘otokoyaku’ performer — an actress that plays traditionally male roles.

According to her website, she voiced Ying and Kikita from BoBoiBoy, Ms Dira from Rimba Racer, and also voiced in several US games, such as Fadeout: Underground and Warfork.

She also did Malay dub for anime series such as Cardcaptor Sakura and Chibi Maruko-Chan, reported The Magic Rain.

Chan is fluent in English and Malay and can voice act in basic Cantonese and Japanese.

She has also worked on a handful of commercials for brands such as Maxis, Nippon Paint, Digi, Maybelline, Kotex, Samsung, KFC, AIA, Dutch Lady, Suria KLCC, IKEA, and more.
