They emerged top in their classes in a global Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey by the Airports Council International (ACI).
According to Malaysia Airports on Tuesday, 22 March, KLIA and LIA achieved a perfect score of 5.00 in the airport categories serving over 40 million passengers per annum (mppa), and two to five mppa, respectively.
ACI’s annual ASQ Awards recognise airport excellence based on passenger experience and data from their renowned departure and arrival surveys.
Out of 400 participating airports in 95 countries, they benchmark the world’s best airports in terms of overall passenger satisfaction in terminal safety, facilities, services, and cleanliness.
This is especially motivating in view of the expected increase in passengers and travellers when the Malaysian borders reopen on 1 April.
In February 2022 alone, the group said it recorded a total of 2.54 million passenger movements in its local network of airports, of which 2.27 million were domestic and 280,000 were international.
It said Scoot has introduced new twice weekly flights from Singapore to Miri on top of its current Singapore to Kuching thrice-weekly flights.
Firefly will also reinstate its jet operations starting April from its new hub at the Penang International Airport to Johor Bahru, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu.
In the meantime, the group said vaccinated travel lane (VTL) programmes are ongoing, including the Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur to Pattaya, and Kuala Lumpur to Cambodia routes that commenced on 15 March, as well as the Penang to Singapore route on 16 March.
