In a Facebook post, JPJ said that motorists are advised to comply with the rules to install vehicle registration numbers according to the specifications set under the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
Those found violating the rules can be fined between RM300 to RM3,000.
In March this year, 76 notices were issued to motorists for using ‘fancy’ registration number plates.
Just last month, a number of notices were issued to those with modified registration number plates.
“People are advised to report any vehicle that has a confusing, vague or ‘fancy’ registration number,” it said.
The complaint can be channelled through [email protected] along with vehicle photos and other relevant details.
