The Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) announced the Esports Integrated (ESI) initiative back in October. And now, the initiative has launched the Malaysia Esports Championship (MEC) 2020 as part of its esports development roadmap. And registrations for the championship is now open for the games that are part of it.
MEC 2020 features four esports titles, which are Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, Dota 2 and FIFA 21. ESI has also prepared a prize pool of RM100,000 for the championship, though the exact breakdown for each game is very much weighted to the mobile titles.
From the ESI Facebook page, we see that PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends both get RM40,000 each, while FIFA 21 and Dota 2 gets RM10,000. ESI said that it will introduce more games in future championships, but has not specified which ones exactly.
Of the four titles that will be part of the MEC 2020, three of them are now open for registration. They are FIFA 21, Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile. The tourneys for the three games start on 27 December for FIFA 21, and 29 December for both Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile. No dates for the Dota 22 tourney just yet, but you can fill up a form to get notified of when it starts, and when registrations open.
