The Malaysian National Co-operative Movement (ANGKASA) calls all Malaysians to participate in Coopathon 3.0, a hackathon event organised by the International Co-operative Alliance Asia Pacific (ICA-AP) to be held virtually from Dec 11 to Dec 14.
Coopathon 3.0 is an initiative that provides a platform in exploring sustainable and innovative solutions through the use of technology in facing challenges in the social and service sectors as well as exposing participants to cooperative values and models.
Themed “Promoting Cooperative Identity Through Digital Transformation”, this third cooperative hackathon aims to build ideas and solutions in facing crisis, especially in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, promoting technology and entrepreneurial cooperation while increasing youth participation in the cooperative movement.
The event relates to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis and the current global economic uncertainty where participants can share experiences and see how cooperative institutions play its’ role as a resilient business model due to democratic economic structure, sustainable development approach and focused on the well-being of society.
“This competition provides opportunities for the public and cooperative members to boost the growth of ideas and innovation, develop skills in digital technology and internet of things (IoT) as well as empowering business potential globally,” President of ANGKASA Datuk Abdul Fattah Abdullah said.

Registration for Coopathon 3.0 is free. Cooperative members and the general public aged 13 and above individually or in groups (2 to 5 individuals in a group) may enter this competition.
The winner of the competition will receive a prize of USD3,000, while the runner-up will receive USD2,000 and third place prize of USD1,500. Winners will also receive organizational support, computing resources and access to business partners by the organizers, ICA-AP.
