Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the Ministry of Health (MOH) will receive an allocation of RM36.1 billion, one of the biggest allocations to a ministry under Budget 2023
During the tabling of the budget today, 7 October, Zafrul said RM4.9 billion out of the total will be allocated to purchasing medicines, vaccines, and other consumables.
Meanwhile, RM1.8 billion will be allocated to build hospitals, clinics and new facilities, as well as procurement of medical equipment, as well as RM420 million to repair hospitals and dilapidated clinics.

Earlier, the Finance Minister also announced that RM11 million will be allocated to subsidise breast cancer and cervical cancer screening among Malaysian women
While announcing initiatives for women under Budget 2023, he said the allocation is to encourage women to go for mammograms and Pap smears, as breast cancer and cervical cancer are the most common cancers among Malaysian women.
Zafrul also announced that cervical cancer screening will use a new PCR screening technology that was pioneered by ROSE Foundation and University Malaya.
