Air Selangor announced that several districts in Selangor will see a scheduled water disruption next week

According to the notice on their website, the scheduled water cut will affect 998 areas in the Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat, and Kuala Selangor regions.

Water supply in these areas will be affected for four days as the company carries out upgrading and maintenance works at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant.

Residences in the impacted areas can expect cuts from 9am on 13 October.

Air Selangor noted that water supply is expected to fully recover by 9pm on 16 October.

In their notice, they noted that the duration of the water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the distance of the consumers’ premises and the water pressure at the distribution system.

Air Selangor also explained that the implementation of the maintenance work was previously scheduled in 2019 and consequently in 2020.

However, it was postponed due to water pollution incidents that had caused a large-scale unscheduled water supply disruption.

“The implementation of these works has been approved by National Water Services Commission (SPAN) to ensure that the water supply distribution system is at its best level for the convenience of consumers in the future,” they added.

Air Selangor assured that water supply assistance will be distributed through water tankers

They will be mobilising 105 water tankers to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises such as hospitals, dialysis centres and funerals homes.

Air Selangor will also provide 18 public water taps from 14 to 16 October for the convenience of customers in need of water supply.

A complete list of the affected areas, public water taps, and local water filling stations can be found on the Air Selangor Henti Tugas online portal.
