With Malaysians having to stay at home since the Movement Control Order (MCO) began on 1 June, Twitter user @IzzRaifHarz immediately went out when restrictions lifted and showed off photos of himself eating a plate of fried rice outdoors.
“Salam dine-in from Perlis,” he wrote.
As of writing, his Tweet has gained over 20,000 likes and 15,000 retweets.
The state, along with Sarawak and Labuan, entered Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) effective Wednesday, 4 August, which sees more COVID-19 restrictions lifted.
Taking advantage of the new freedom, the Twitter user said, “Honestly, this is for all the years I’ve heard: ‘You live in Perlis but what do you do? There’s nothing there’.”
However, jokes aside, he said he is really thankful to be able to eat out now.
“Get well soon, Malaysia,” he wished.
“This is how people flex in 2021,” said a netizen.
“Don’t flex riches, flex dine-in,” said another.
