Meet Rolls and Bentley, two lovely dogs who started their lives in questionable conditions but thanks to the love and kindness of Cheryl and Shaun, found their forever homes with their family in the UK.
According to the couple, Bentley is a mix-breed, found as a puppy in a rubbish bin, along with four of his siblings.
A kind woman named Jessmeen initially fostered him and his sister Kaylee before putting them up for adoption on Petfinder.com, an online service for pet adoption, where Cheryl spotted him. He is five years old.

Rolls however was adopted as an adult. Cheryl tells FMT, “Rolls was a stray on the streets of Klang, malnourished and full of ticks. She was rescued by a young man named Obren.
“We fostered her for a month but when no one came to claim her, we adopted her as our own. She was sickly and it took a year before she fully recovered from chronic tick fever.”
Rolls is likely six years old… maybe older, Cheryl says.

The two, although worlds apart in personality, are soulmates who love each other to bits.
“Bentley is smart, protective and has a playful DNA. Rolls is soft, and loveable and sometimes a little feisty when it comes to treats.
Cheryl says both pooches love their long walks in the English countryside, and while Rolls has a soft spot for soft toys and loves cuddles, Bentley is great with her kids and loves nothing better than playing chase with them and their friends.
These canines also love their meat and their mum’s vegetable stew but go particularly wild over her natural homemade dog treats. “They just can’t seem to get enough,” Cheryl says.

Despite being daredevils most of the time, the sounds of thunder and fireworks send shivers down Rolls’ spine.
“Bentley on the other hand, dislikes getting his paws wet (very posh!). Too bad with English weather it’s cold and damp a lot of the time,” Cheryl says.
She adds that both pooches are smart and know the commands ‘sit’, ‘stay’ and ‘heel’. “They are well behaved unleashed during walks unless they spot a hare in the field! Then they totally lose it,” she says.
Being naturally friendly, both dogs are happy to greet the family at the front door when they get home. “Bentley likes a good sniff at the postman or postwoman. Both Rolls and Bentley greet other regular dog walkers and their dogs.
“Rolls will come up to ask for a pat on the head and Bentley will jump up and loves licking their faces,” Cheryl tells FMT.

Like most dogs, sleeping on a warm and fluffy bed beside their favourite human is one of the best things in life, and Rolls and Bentley are no exception.
“Yes, they sometimes sneak in and sleep with Mummy in the early morning. And they do love a nice snuggle on the sofa when we are watching TV,” Cheryl says.
“They taught us to love unconditionally and we love Rolls and Bentley every bit. When it was time for them to move to the UK during the pandemic, we cried watching them as they were taken away by the pet relocator.”

She explains that the pair were quarantined for 24 hours at the Malaysian Animal Reception Centre before departure and that her husband was on the same flight with them back to the UK.
“I made a big bag of my dehydrated homemade treats for my husband to bring to the UK for them as I and my kids had to wait a bit longer for my visa.
“I told them we will reunite as a family once again but let them have Mummy’s treats to remember me by in the meantime,” Josephine says of the treats she makes using a dehydrator.
The good news is, the family has been reunited and is now complete. They are currently enjoying their long walks in the English countryside and look forward to the first sight of snow.

Cheryl says that she hopes more people would be open to adopting a pet rather than buying one after reading the beautiful stories of Rolls and Bentley.
“Bentley is a mongrel mix which not many will take in (especially in Malaysia) but he’s such a wonderful and intelligent soul.
“And the chances of a sickly and adult dog like Rolls getting adopted, are slim. But with a healthy life, good food and love she has come through it and is now a healthy and active dog,” Cheryl says.
Here’s wishing this beautiful family and their darling furbabies the best life ever!
