In a Facebook post on Wednesday, 24 November, the railway operator shared that they decided to fulfill Aziana Shaari’s dream after reading about her simple wish in Kosmo! last month.
According to New Straits Times, Aziana’s mother, 50-year-old Fatimah Hashim, expressed her appreciation to KTMB for fulfilling her daughter’s dream, as she has been bedridden for the last eight years.
“I don’t know how to describe how happy she was. Aziana was really excited about today. Her dream is fulfilled, thank you KTMB,” Fatimah told reporters.
A concrete wall, which was under construction at her relative’s house near her home, collapsed and fell on her while she was playing nearby.
Aziana’s spine was crushed by the concrete wall, and the incident has left her completely paralysed from the waist down.
Over the years, her health condition has further deteriorated, with complications occurring in her lungs, kidneys, and hearing.
The train also made a one-minute stop near her home at Kampung Bakar Bata, where her relatives and neighbours gathered to wave at her from outside the railway track.
“Riding on a train is my childhood dream. All this while, I could only watch the trains passing by my village,” said the youngest child of six.
“This my first train ride, I am really thrilled.”
“We are delighted to fulfil Aziana’s wish. We hope this will bring happy memory (sic) to her,” he said, as he and other VIPs such as KTMB chief executive officer Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin also joined Aziana for the ride.
Musa also thanked the Malaysian Red Crescent Society for providing two paramedics to accompany Aziana during the train ride that day.
