The 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) features an exciting new team of superheroes in the MCU who have been living on earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.
The film is directed and co-written by Chloe Zhao and stars Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, and Kit Harington.
Diandra: What was it like playing Ikaris and being a part of the MCU?
Richard Madden: It was an honour to be asked to join this already huge, talented, wonderful family. I’ve watched these movies for years. I’ve been fans of them so going from watching movies about Thor and Thanos to being in a scene referencing them, feels very special.
Diandra: I have to say. I love the diversity of it and with Chloe on the director’s seat. What was it like working with them?
Gemma Chan: Yes, so happy to be a part of this cast. I find it so amazing that so many young boys and girls will maybe see themselves representing a film like this for the first time. But I also hope we came into a point where it’s not going to be a big deal. That it’s normalised.
Diandra: If you can have the powers of any superhero in the MCU, whose powers would you have?
Gemma Chan: I actually would keep my own – Sersi’s own power. And I would turn the excess carbon in the atmosphere into something else. Oxygen.
