Two senior citizens from Kedah and Kuala Lumpur have become overnight millionaires after winning lucky draws by Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN)
According to New Straits Times, the senior citizens won RM1 million each under the bank’s Premium Savings Certificate (SSP) special draw in June.
In a statement, the bank said despite the windfall, the 72-year-old winner from Bedong, Kedah said he will continue with his savings habit.
The man, who works as a petrol pump attendant, urged members of the public to save under the SSP scheme.

The other winner is a 82-year-old retiree from Kuala Lumpur
“He stressed the importance of inculcating a saving habit early on for future benefit,” Harian Metro quoted BSN chief executive Jay Khairil as saying.
The bank said it is currently still searching for winners in its SSP special draw, adding that four more SSP depositors became millionaires between June and August.
There are nine out of 14 winners from the campaign thus far, all of whom are between the ages of 17 and 82
Jay said a 38-year-old draftsman from Padang Temu, Melaka took home RM1 million for the BSN SSP July Special Draw.
“Meanwhile, the millionaire for August is a 59-year-an old retiree who is also from Melaka. Living in Merlimau, he — who has four children — chose to save in SSP for his family’s future investment,” he added.

Jay revealed that up until September, BSN SSP depositors comprised more than four million people with total savings exceeding RM4.3 billion.
“Within the nine months of this year, we saw over 69,000 new depositors who save money in SSP,” he said.
“Therefore, we would like to call on more Malaysians to save with BSN and have the opportunity to become SSP millionaires.”
The lucky draw campaign ends 31 December this year.
