All private kindergartens in the states under Phase 1 and 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) that are registered with the Ministry of Education (MOE) have been allowed to reopen from 17 September
In a statement today, 19 September, MOE said that it wants to clarify an earlier statement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Wednesday in which he had announced the reopening of private kindergartens and mental development centres for students aged between four and six in these states.
According to the ministry’s statement, the relaxation to allow operation of the registered kindergartens including all the private kindergartens and kindergartens at private schools, international schools, and expatriate schools is only for pupils aged four to six whose parents or guardians are working.
MOE said that the clarification is meant to remove the confusion
“The ministry is aware that there is still confusion, hence, we want to explain that kindergartens under private, international and expatriate schools and mind development centres are allowed to resume operations starting 17 September for children with working parents/guardians,” the statement said.
MOE added that the operation is subject to classroom capacity and physical distancing.
