PETALING JAYA: A rehabilitation centre, in Muar, used as a transit point for prisoners since November will go under lockdown for 14 days beginning tomorrow.
Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at the centre will come into effect from tomorrow until Jan 6, 2021.
He said the decision was made following a presentation by the health ministry on the spike in Covid-19 cases among inmates there.
“As of now, the health ministry has conducted 726 screenings, and 20 positive cases have been recorded among the inmates.”
He said 773 detainees and 127 staff will be affected. The EMCO there will be subjected to the usual SOPs.
