Samsung To Unveil The Exynos 2100 Chipset Ahead Of Galaxy S21 Series’ Launch

Samsung has recently made an announcement for an unveiling that is due in January of 2021. Instead of the company’s highly anticipated Galaxy S21 series, the product in question will be a new Exynos chipset. While unconfirmed, the chip is believed to be the Exynos 2100, which will be powering the Korean brand’s upcoming flagship smartphones.

The announcement was followed by a short teaser video, although not much else regarding the processor is revealed. Rumours have suggested that the new Exynos 2100 will be built on a 5nm process with ARM’s X1 prime core clocking in at up to 2.91 GHz, along with triple Cortex A78s at speeds of up to 2.81GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.21GHz. Handling graphics acceleration on the chipset is said to be a Mali-G78 GPU.

Other than that, the new in-house Samsung processor is expected to be equipped on the Galaxy S21 series in regions such as Asia and Europe. Meanwhile, countries including the US, China and South Korea may feature the Snapdragon 888 instead. Whether the company’s own chipset is able to keep up with Qualcomm’s flagship SoC remains to be seen.

Interestingly enough, Samsung’s official unveiling of the new Exynos 2100 chipset is set two days before the launch of the Galaxy S21 smartphones. That is, if the suggested 14 January 2021 date by previous rumours are accurate.
