KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has maintained its own Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the number of customers allowed per table at eateries, announced Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
Masidi, who is also state Local Government and Housing minister and Finance Minister II, said this is due to the Sabah Covid-19 statistics.
“We, in Sabah, still stick to the original SOP that we have implemented. I think it is quite dangerous for us to withdraw this SOP in Sabah because the number of new cases is still at a worrying level,” he said during a live Sabah Covid-19 Current Development press conference here today.
“So, I hope everyone involved, in particular, those who visit the restaurant and restaurant owners and operators will be patient.
“If we want to return to our original state, we must make sure we break this Covid-19 transmission chain with SOP compliance,” he emphasized.
Masidi said the government maintained the 50% occupancy of the total capacity of a table for customer dining in an eatery.
“Two persons at a table size for four persons, three people at a table for six people and four people at a table for eight people and so on with a one meter physical distancing and SOP food sector compliance,” he added.
On Wednesday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that there will be no limit on the number of customers allowed per table at restaurants as long as they practise physical distancing beginning December 9.
He said the move was another relaxation to the standard operating procedure (SOP) set for areas under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) and Conditional MCO (CMCO).
