Malaysian singer-actress Elyana Emrizal, who in 2017 had revealed that she has Stage 4 Lymphoma Cancer, has now revealed that the blood cancer has spread to her other organs including womb and liver
“I’ve lost my appetite and now weigh only 41kg. In my body, at this time there is no fat and only bones,” the 33-year-old was quoted as saying by Harian Metro on Thursday, 10 December.
According to Elyana, when she was hospitalised for five days last month, doctors informed her that the old cancer cells had decreased, but found that the cells had spread to other parts of the body.
Her doctors wanted her to undergo chemotherapy as soon as possible, but it had to be postponed due to her health condition not allowing it
“I need time to be strong again. God willing, I will undergo chemotherapy as soon as I feel better,” said the Dukun actress who last had chemotherapy in 2016.
“I have not had an appetite for the past few months and now my body is weak.”
Elyana said she is now trying to think positively every day
“Encouraging myself is my daily routine in facing this challenge,” she said, adding that her current health condition requires her to get a lot of rest because she is tired quickly and can not walk much.
“I’m not one to give up easily. I intend to fight the disease all the way.”
Elyana, who married Khairul Anuar Husin in 2010, has a nine-year-old daughter, Cinta Sumayyah, and an adopted son, Cahaya Ramadhani, who is now a year old.
In 2017, when Elyana revealed that she has blood cancer which was first diagnosed in 2010, people had accused her of seeking attention
After enduring harsh criticism and insults weeks after coming out with the announcement, she posted a lengthy Instagram post in which she expressed her thoughts and feelings on what had happened so far.
“Thank you for insulting this woman. Thank you for praying for me to die quickly. Thank you also for taking advantage and for accusing me of seeking attention,” Elyana wrote in her post at the time.
“Thank you for the accusations without seeking out the real and actual reasons and saying that I lied about my ailment. Thank you as well to those of you who are happy to see me being a public embarrassment. Thank you all. Maybe you have not yet felt what I have gone through all this while,” she added.
According to her, she was accepting of her fate, like any other person.
“We all will die someday. Not just people with cancer. I hope we take care of our own conduct. If there’s nothing good to be said, written or done, then perhaps it’s better to just keep quiet.”
She ended the post with: “I’m Elyana, a Stage 4 cancer patient.”
