Despite fears of another delay, CD Projekt Red’s (CDPR) has finally kept its promise and its long-awaited title, Cyberpunk 2077, is finally available across all platforms. Fun fact about the game: the studio pre-sold a whopping eight million copies before the game launch and as it stands, the game currently sits on Steam’s pedestal as the most actively played title on the platform.
A few hours after its launch, Cyberpunk 2077 had a peak of one million concurrently playing the game. That number has waned a little since then, but at the time of writing, it’s still sitting pretty high at an average of 800000 players.

That’s over $500m in revenue prior to release.
For reference, GTAV did $800m on its first day including pre orders + day one sales. https://t.co/DNNZjp5w5Q

For context, that number of players on Cyberpunk 2077 overtakes the number of Dota 2 and CS:GO players, combined. That’s a pretty impressive feat, especially since the former is currently just a single-player title, while the other two are multiplayer.
For that matter, not even CDPR’s earlier hit, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was able to achieve that many players; at launch, the game peaked at 40000 concurrent players. It wasn’t until the launch and critical success of Netflix’s adaptation of the Polish series that the game managed to break the 100000 mark. Even then, that number is still small potatoes compared to what Cyberpunk 2077 has done.
