Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said that at least 10 people are still reported to be missing while the search and rescue (SAR) operations are underway to locate them.

According to Acryl, five deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.

Of the five, four were adults and one was a child.

He said that police are still waiting for the post-mortem on the cause of the deaths.

“So far, we have not received any reports and if necessary we will need to provide the information and so far I believe the post-mortem is still in progress,” he added.

Of all the states, Pahang is the most-affected state at this time.

The six other states are Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Kelantan, and Negeri Sembilan.

Some 137 roads are still closed due to floods in four states so far, involving 120 locations in Pahang, 12 locations in Selangor, three locations in Kelantan, and two locations in Negeri Sembilan.

“The ‘danger’ level involves 13 locations with nine rivers in Pahang, one each in Selangor and Johor, and two in Kelantan,” he was quoted as saying in a Bernama report earlier today, 23 December.

He added that the rivers with ‘warning’ levels were one each in Selangor and Johor and two each in Pahang, Kelantan, Melaka, and Sarawak.
